UTSA Libraries' Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative, spearheaded by Open Education Coordinator DeeAnn Ivie, is transforming the academic landscape by significantly reducing the financial burden of educational materials for students. Leveraging open licensing, the initiative offers an expansive array of educational content, including textbooks, videos, and assignments, at minimal to no cost. With a strategic goal to increase OER usage in core curriculum classes to nearly 100% in the next five to seven years, the initiative recently received a substantial boost with a $10,000 grant from Driving Open Educational Resources Sustainability for Student Success (DOERS3).
