The costs of textbooks and digital class content can be a barrier for students to finish their degree, Menefee said. A survey conducted by State Center Community College District in fall 2020 showed that 53% of students avoided attending school full time because of textbook costs. “I’m from the Valley. I went to Reedley College, too,” Menefee said. “I know the struggle of paying for textbooks.”
